How To Plan Your Next VACATION With Google
/Did you know that Google recently launched a new tool to help you plan your next vacation.
I have been using their applications Google trip a lot for the past 2 years for all my travels. The main benefit of using it is that it will become your private travel agent you can reach out at anytime.
All you need to do is to book all your travel details using your gmail email address and Google will automatically organize your trip for you. From flight details, update related to your flight schedule, what time you should leave home to arrive at the airport on time, accommodation details on arrival, information related to the country you travel to, day plans of your trip, etc… Using it is really adopting it as it will change the way you travel and will make your life so much easier!
With the last update, every search you make related to your trip will be saved and you will be able to pick up your search where you left off if you got distracted or had to close the window. The “Your Trips” update will “make it easier to organize travel plans still in the works, and resume planning where you last left off.” Here’s a direct example from Google.
If you’ve recently started looking at traveling to Milan, we’ll show you potential trip information in Your Trips like flight prices you’re tracking (if you have any), destination-specific flight and hotel searches, and places you’ve saved. That way, you can easily pick up your travel research when you come back to Google. To see Your Trips, search for “my trips” on Google, or tap on the Your Trips tab from Google Flights or Hotels on your phone.
But let’s say that is your first time planning your trip using Google, here is a little step by step process to guide you.
Search for the location on Google
In this example I am doing a search for a trip to Edinburgh in Scotland. I am thinking of a weekend getaway and I am curious to know what I could do during 2 nights and 2 days visiting the city for the first time.
You will notice in the results of your search three things:
A quick overview of your destination with a short description, the weather to expect, the time zone and details about your trip like travel guide, average accommodation cost and flight time from the country where you are.
Some results on things to do in the city like visiting the main landmarks.
A link to check the more detailed travel guide of the city
By clicking on the latter, here is what you will see next.
Travel Guide
Google offers you a more detailed travel guide of Edinburgh within 2 clicks! No need to buy any travel books or spend hours on blogs to figure out what to do during your visit. You will get all the main places to visit ranked by 5 star ratings with reviews from people who visited the places already to have an idea of what to expect. You can also plan your trip including flights and accommodation. You can have an idea of the best time to visit if you want to avoid the high touristic season and even find some other travel related articles about Edinburgh.
Also at the top of the page you will notice 3 other tabs:
Things To Do
Day Plans
Plan A Trip
Things to do
Things to do will offer you a more detailed overview of the places you might be interested to visit in the city with their location on a map to help you have an idea of their locations and how far or close they are from one another.
Day Plans
Day Plans offer you an idea of an itinerary of places to visit according to the time of your stay in the city if you do not want to have to plan it yourself.
Plan a trip
And finally, plan a trip will allow you to find the best time to book your flights and accommodations with estimated prices to give you an idea of a travel budget.
When it comes to travel and accommodation, I am actually using a website called Trip Valet to find discount prices on flights and hotels. You can find more information in the article I wrote here.
And the best thing is that once you book your flights, accommodation and experiences during your stay, everything will be organised by Google. You can either use Google Now, the google assistant app to tell you your schedule or use their application Google Trip to have the desktop version of what you just used to plan your trip on your mobile phone and get access to it anytime even offline when you do not have access to Internet! #saywhaaat
You can have more information about the application Google trip right here. And if you’d like me to give you an overview of how to use the mobile version, just let me know in the comment section below and I will show you how awesome this app is!
